Welcome to Madison Park

Nestled along the western shore of Lake Washington, Madison Park is one of Seattle’s most picturesque and inviting neighborhoods—a place where natural beauty meets timeless charm. With its tree-lined streets, elegant homes, and stunning waterfront views, it offers a serene, village-like escape that feels worlds away from the city, yet it’s only minutes from downtown. The neighborhood’s centerpiece, Madison Park itself, is a hub of community life. Here, locals gather to swim or paddleboard in the summer, play tennis on warm afternoons, or enjoy leisurely picnics on the sprawling lawns overlooking the lake.

Madison Park’s easygoing pace is matched by its strong sense of community. Residents greet each other by name, support locally owned boutiques and cafes, and come together for seasonal festivals, holiday events, and park gatherings that bring warmth and connection throughout the year.

With top-rated schools and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, it’s no wonder so many people fall in love with this neighborhood. Whether you’re strolling along the lake, sipping coffee at a cozy café, or simply taking in the views, Madison Park offers the rare combination of tranquility, beauty, and belonging.

Things to Do: Madison Park

Coffee Time

Madison Park’s cozy coffee scene is perfect for a relaxing morning or an afternoon pick-me-up. Start your day at Arosa Coffee and try their rich and creamy Café Bombom, or stop by Yeobo Cafe and Bar for the unique and soothing Cinnamon Ginger Punch. At Drip Drip Coffeehouse, indulge in bold Vietnamese Coffee or sample one of their creative seasonal coffee flights—don’t miss the Jambon Beurre sandwich while you’re there.

Outdoor Life

Madison Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering easy access to some of Seattle’s most scenic spots. At Madison Beach Park, you can sunbathe, swim, or enjoy a picnic on the sandy shore while taking in stunning Lake Washington views. The Washington Park Arboretum invites leisurely strolls through 230 acres of lush gardens. For those seeking more active pursuits, tennis, paddleboarding, and swimming are popular ways to soak up the fresh air and embrace the neighborhood’s vibrant outdoor lifestyle.

Tranquility

The Seattle Japanese Garden is a serene masterpiece inspired by the 16th- and 17th-century stroll gardens of Japan, designed to reveal ever-changing landscapes with each turn along its winding path. Created by renowned landscape designer Juki Iida, the garden follows the principle of shizensa—the essence of nature—blending traditional Japanese plants with Pacific Northwest natives and carefully placed granite stones sourced from the Cascades.

Shopping

Madison Park offers a charming mix of local shops that make for a delightful shopping experience. Browse carefully curated titles at Madison Books, where you can lose yourself in a good story or find a unique gift. Stop by Cookin’ at Madison Park to pick up gourmet ingredients, specialty kitchenware, or culinary inspiration. For gifts, flowers, or custom bouquets, Martha E. Harris Flowers & Gifts has you covered with thoughtful, beautifully arranged options.

Experience

Experiencing Madison Park means soaking in the charm of a lakeside community that knows how to celebrate the season. Each year, the Annual Garden Tour invites visitors to explore private gardens, offering a rare glimpse into the neighborhood’s hidden beauty. In summer, Music in the Park fills the lakeside lawn with families, picnics, and live music—creating a relaxed, sunlit celebration of Seattle’s vibrant neighborhood spirit.

ARt Walk

One of my favorite events is the Annual Madison Park Art Walk. Come enjoy music, wine, and light snacks; it’s a wonderful chance to support our community, connect with neighbors, and experience the amazing local art on display. All the artists’ pieces will be showcased in the Park House and around Madison Park throughout September, so if you can’t make it to opening night, there’s plenty of time to stop by and enjoy the exhibits.

Living Here: A Neighborhood Snapshot

Seattle’s neighborhoods are unusually distinct and character rich because Seattle isn’t one city  — it’s like a constellation of small towns that just happen to be next to each other… each with its own micro culture, its own tempo, its own aesthetic language. Coffee, pubs, bakeries, boutiques, bookstores are very neighborhood specific and beloved here. People belong to their café. Their bakery.  And the architecture makes it even better — old craftsman, mid-century, modern, industrial conversions, Victorian leftovers, Scandinavian touches. Porches, gardens, hidden alleys, random staircases… it all creates this lived-in story everywhere you walk.
